6-year-old boy in Guthrie Center killed by vehicle backing out of driveway

A 6-year-old boy in Guthrie Center was struck and killed Saturday morning by a driver backing out of a residential driveway, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The boy entered the right rear blind spot of the Chevy Suburban, and the vehicle's right rear tire struck him, the patrol's crash report said.
The driver attempted lifesaving measures until rescue personnel arrived, but the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The body was transported to Twigg Funeral Home in Guthrie Center.
