Guests at the Fleur Lodge motel near Des Moines International Airport were displaced by an overnight fire in a second-floor room, according to the Des Moines Fire Department.

The fire at 4817 Fleur Drive was reported about 12:45 a.m. Monday, said Des Moines fire Lt. Rick Thomas. Firefighters arriving at the two-story motel saw flames coming from a top-floor window, Thomas said.

They quickly extinguished the fire, departing by 2:30 a.m. The fire was contained to the one unit, Thomas said, though the room below it sustained water damage.

Thomas said nobody was injured and that he did not know the number of people displaced. The cause of the fire was still being determined later Monday, he said.
