Name of Des Moines man who died swimming in Saylorville Lake's 'Party Cove' released

The man who died while swimming in Saylorville Lake over the weekend has been identified.

Robert Issacc Mayberry Jr., 26, of Des Moines may have gone underwater around 7:16 p.m., according to a news release from the Polk County Sheriff's Office. He was swimming in the southeast area of the lake commonly known as "Party Cove."

Rescue personnel searched until sunset, when conditions became too dangerous to continue. The search resumed at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, and the body was found about 40 minutes later.

Mayberry was found 15 to 20 yards from the shore, in about 10 to 15 feet of water, the release said.
